Safaricom has rolled out a new loan facility called Halal Pesa in partnership with Gulf African Bank Limited. The minimum amount you can borrow is Kshs. 1000 and a customer cannot request for an amount less than Kshs 1000. The good news with Halal Pesa is that, The maximum amount allowed for first time customers is Kshs. 15,000 and Kshs. 20,000 for repeat customers in respect to customer’s qualifying limit.
Halal Pesa Loan interest rate
Halal charges a 5% profit rate which is payable after 30 days. For example, if you borrow Kshs 15,000. The profit rate after 30 days will be kshs 750, so you will repay back kshs 15,750.
How to apply for Halal Pesa loan
Halal Pesa Loan can be applied by either using mpesa app and also through ssd code.

- Select Loans and Savings
- Select Halal Pesa
- Select Register
- Check terms and conditions, read and then accept the terms and conditions
- Enter your Mpesa PIN. Upon successful registration, you will receive a confirmation message from Safaricom. You will be notified of your loan limit after successful opt in to the facility.
How to apply for Halal Pesa Loan using Safaricom Mpesa app
- Download Mpesa app from Google Playstore or if already installed.
- Click on Grow icon.
- Select Halal Pesa Mini app and register.
